Welcome to Your Business Future
You are here because you want to take your business to the next level, I'm here to help. How will I help your business? Have you ever heard of copywriting? If you haven't, I will give you a hint, you are reading it right now.
The foundation of any business is the words. Words are how we communicate with the world. The right words can be the difference between a beer with a stranger and a black eye.
In business, copywriting decides whether you file for bankruptcy, or you're hosting the company's 25th annual barbeque.
If You Want to be Ahead of the Game, Read to the End.
Where to go:
What is Copywriting?
Copywriting is something you see on a daily basis in capitalist America. Anytime you see words used to sell something, it's copy.
If you want to impress your peers, you can tell them it's writing persuasive marketing material for the purpose of the reader taking action.
There are many examples of copywriting, words on a billboard ad, company website pages, landing pages, brochures, and many more.
Copywriting relies on knowledge of economic psychology and what drives people to purchase something.
The right combination of words is what truly encourages your customers to sway your way. Copywriting is paired with graphic design to grab the attention of any reader.
Copywriting has been around for a long time. Back then, it was in the form of newspapers, posters, writing on papyrus, etc.
Although these forms exist today, nowadays, you'll often see them in digital format. Websites, ads, and social media to name a few.
Another aspect of copywriting is creating a story or a path for the customer. You can have an amazing product, but, if the customer is lost during the buying process or confused about the product, they will likely lose interest. Copywriters use business funnels to guide the buying process.
What is a business funnel?
A business funnel is using the first piece of attention and converting the attention to a sale via a set path.
And that's just one of the many tools on a copywriter's belt.
Examples of Copywriting
Copywriting is all around you and it's important to notice.
Let's look at a few examples so the next time you see copywriting, you're knowledgeable in every way.
Here we have a flyer ad by pop chips to promote their signature chips. I want you to look at the text above Katy Perry in this flyer.
The words, "nothing fake about 'em", are the key part of the whole ad. The phrase is meant to sell the chips off of society's desire for real food with real ingredients.
Even Katy's quote below the heading is copywriting. It plays into a familiar face giving a great selling point. It also gives the brand an authority figure going forward.
This is an ad in a NYC subway. It's short and to the point, it's saying, we want you to buy our hats.
Wait a second, let's look closer at the text in this ad. Now the header and the text below are both copywriting. They are words meant to sell by definition.
Part of big marketing for men is purchasing products to look good to women. Think about it, Old Spice, Manscape, and various cologne brands. These are all companies that play into the appeal of attracting women.
Numbers or statistics like the text below the header are a great way to measure the quality of the product. Statistics along with a grabbing header are a common form of copywriting.
Be sure to keep an eye out for them when you're out and about.
Why a Copywriter is Important
Many businesses try and fail when it comes to gaining new customers. Behind every great marketing campaign is a professional copywriter.
Oftentimes, entrepreneurs will have a fantastic contribution to society. They'll have a world changing product or service ready to go. Only to find out, society has to know/trust the business before investing time and money.
A hired copywriter ensures your business is successful in both.
Once you have the attention, you run into another problem, which is getting people to buy. Copywriters do the heavy lifting for converting the attention into products in hand.
Successful copywriters do the research on a business niche to determine the best clientele.
Once the target audience is known, a copywriter masterfully persuades them to take action.
Best part of all, it saves you TIME.
Copywriters handle the marketing aspect, while you focus on the vision of the business.
What Now?
Now that you understand copywriting, you're one step closer to your business dreams.
The next chapter in your business is a deep reflection. Are the words in your business powerful enough to encourage buying? Does your business copy stand out amongst your peers? Is there a clear path for your customers to take?
If not, you need to change the copy in your business. The most effective way to do that, is to hire a professional copywriter.
Copywriters can be found on freelance websites or various agencies. Finding the right one can be a challenging process.
